Vocal Ensemble

This is our most challenging choir and admission is by audition only. This group meets every day for 42 minutes during I block from 7:20-8:00 AM all year. Students receive a letter grade and the class is worth 5 honor-level credits. Their repertoire includes music from the standard genres of pop, classical, sacred, secular, spiritual, patriotic and folk as well, but it is much more challenging and may require individuals to sing alone.

Ninety-nine percent of the repertoire for this group is performed a cappella. This is the most active of our choral groups. They perform at the winter and spring concerts, 4-6 nursing homes during the holidays, local community events, and usually compete in the MICAA state festival as well as nationally during our music trip. Our 2016 awards include excellent ratings at the MICCA festival and a first place trophy with a superior rating in Nashville. This group was also invited to participate in the “Sing That Thing” television show, which aired on WGBH in 2016.
